Signature Rule

  • It has become apparent to me, and was brought to my attention again, that the signatures are getting out of control.  Everyone is stunned by the awesome creations that the signature makers produce for you and you wanna show your appreciation by using them.  However this leads me to PogoAddiction's New Rule/Policy regarding signatures:

    - You will only be allowed two (2) images in your signature area.
    - The total area of your signature may not be more than 250 pixels in height and 770 pixels in width
    View the Signature Template

These new rules are subject to the opinion of the staff and are by no means an exact science.
Any signatures not complying with the rules will have all of their signatures removed, at which time you will need to replace one or two of them.

This is being done because an increasing amount of space and loading time is being spend on signatures.  It takes long for pages to load with increased amount of signatures.  Keep in mind we still have people that use dial up.  Also I know from a personal perspective, that I hate spending 10 minutes scrolling down a page of 2 posts, lol.  I am sure you will agree with the reasoning here even if you are someone with more than 2 signatures.

Please feel free to put one back up, as the rule states TWO not one you silly people!  :P It really is nice to see everyone sigs so add two and just switch them up every now and then.  :)

  • As little stated:

You will only be allowed two (2) images in your signature area
    - You will only be allowed one (1) image in your signature area when your signature is bigger than standard 2 to 2 1/2 inches TALL signature.  If you think its too tall it probably is
    - You will only be allowed to use a signature that is no more than 4 inches in height

That means, you can have 2 sigs that are 2 - 2 1/2 inches (each)

    OR

If you have a sig that is more than 2 - 2 1/2 inches you may only have ONE

    AND

even if you have only one, it may not be more than 4 inches in height

    Does that help any?

Sorry, I just noticed this.  Adam explained it well.  There were many many people with 3 or 4 siggies not just you.  Olivia, woe, warmish, angel(a moderator), myself for a while.  So I didnt want to take the option completely away, I just figured (when someone else mentioned my same thoughts) that I would get a handle on the situation.  Hence why I didnt say 1 siggy period, not butts and ors ifs.  I made several revolving rules regarding the signatures, that way more than one could still be shown.  So feel free to put your 2 of your siggies back up, or one "larger" one.  Just keep in mind nothing to exceed 4 inches.  As it can be a hastle to sift through.

Another reason was the time it takes to load.  I am sure you have experienced it from time to time that the form takes a while to load.   Its not entirely the signatures, but every bit helps and the problem is 10 times worse for someone on a dial up connection.

So please don't feel like I am point out anyone person for this.  As I mentioned there were many, of which I listed a few of the more active members including myself and angel.

  • To all PA members:  Please accept my humble apologies for over-reacting and assuming that this new rule was put in place because of me.  As so many of you pointed out here in this thread, I wasn't the only one guilty of abusing the signatures in my profile.  I was having a bad weekend personally and was overly sensitive to things when this rule was put in place.  I'm sorry if I have caused anyone any pains with regards to taking down my signatures entirely and while I am not putting them back up right away, I am sure that I will do so at some point in the future.  Right now, I'm still feeling a bit too emotional to sanely do something with regards to the signature block.  Thank you all for trying to make me feel like it wasn't just me.  dani

  • Alright everyone.  I dont have many rules.  I don't make many rules.  This was one the staff felt needed to be implemented.  If you are being contacted by any staff member, please adjust your signatures.  If you can't obey this simple rule, I get rid of the signatures period.  If you are not a staff member, you should contact a staff member if you have an issue with someones signature size.  If they are to big, resize them.  I do not appreciate being talked back to and the signatures being put into place after I removed them after being ignored.  This is the only warning.  I'm a nice guy, but disrespect is the fastest way to piss me off.

size wise it seems to work but if it is to flashy just say so and I can drop it alittle (was planing on making it faster and more movement with the energy area, lol). No I am not offended by this just wondering if the amount of anamation changes any of the size rules.

<--- Used to use dail-up and knows the problem with Sigs being to flashy.

  • another bump-up to remind folks that sigs need to be limited in scope and real estate.  we have many that are WAY too big, and some that take up more than one line.

they need to fit in a single, 2--2 1/2" high line.  you may stack them as long as they don't go past that.

it becomes difficult to see the actual post when sigs get out of hand this way, and it's very difficult for folks on dial-up (the pages take forever to load).

Little had posted this temp plate before for everyone to know if their siggy's fit, so hopefully it is okay to post that too.
I know sometimes it is hard to not put many things in to show off, I have been guilty too, but we all must try to be considerate of everyone else.  :-* :-*

the biggest thing to remember is that this is a forum--if you post here, i'm guessing you want to be heard.  sometimes it's difficult to find the words hidden amongst all the purty pictures.  and just from my standpoint, i tend to admire the creativity much more when there's just one or maybe two sigs--they stand out more.  try to take a cue from our little miss fashion, olivia, who does such a great job coordinating her sigs and avatars to each other and to the occasion.

  • There's a lot to read here.  The sections are pretty well-defined on the main page.  I can only suggest you go through the categories, choosing the ones that appeal to you.............read, read, read and then post in the appropriate topics that interest you.  Welcome to PA.  Your first stop might be the general section...........We Wanna Know........there is an introduction thread where you can introduce yourself to the group.
