PA Member Spotlight November 1, 2009 - Poppet121
« on: November 01, 2009, 08:10:10 AM »

When doing Pogo weekly badges, do you do just yours, or find yourself helping family and friends as well?
I usually Just do my own, though, if a friend needs help, or just wants my company while they do theirs, then i’m more than happy to be there.

When a new game is released will you play it to the final rank even if you don't like it?
No, definitely not. If I don’t like a game i tend to steer clear of it. I always try them first tho. I have to REALLY REALLY like a game to be able to play till the last rank. I have a short attention span lol

Have you ever won a prize (other than screensavers or wallpaper) on Pogo?
Ive only ever won wallpapers and screensavers. I Have no luck what so ever. I would Absolutely Lurrrve to win a pogo mug... but knowing my luck, it would be smashed into a million pieces by the time it arrived lol

What made you decide to join Club Pogo?
Pogo was one of the very first gaming websites i found when we first got the internet, all those years ago (yes we did have electricity then, and didn’t rely on lil hamsters running in the wheel to power up the PC).The first game i ever played was word whomp. I used to play it for hours. Then i kinda got hooked on other sites and pogo took a backseat. Then i got a 2 week free pass in my inbox, and decided to give it a go. I was totally in awe of the weekly challenges, and the amount and variety of games, that i just had to flutter my eyelashes at hubby so he would pay for me a years subscription. I find myself fluttering my eyelashes every November when the new subscription is due lol

If you could offer more choices for Pogo Tokens, what would they be?
I just think it would be pretty cool if we could use them to purchase  more challenges. I think that is my only gripe. Apart from dressing your mini-me,(which i rarely do ...my mini’s t-shirt n jeans must be stinkin  by now! LOL) there’s not a lot you can do with them really is there. It’s more of a status thing  isn’t it.

Name the Pogo challenges that were the hardest & easiest for you to complete?
Well anything to do with card games ie/ hearts ,euchre ,spades or payday freecell, i absolutely dread! Ive tried so hard to understand these games but i just cant. I DO do the challenges tho, and persevere till i get it. You should see that lil smile on my face when i get that pop up sayin i won !!
Easiest ... Hmmm...i dunno, i really enjoy anything apart from card games, so nothing has been a chore. But i gotta admit, ive loved any pogo bowling, turbo 21, or casino Island Blackjack badges.

Do you purchase a Deluxe game when it first come out?
Yeah i usually do, but only if its a game i really want. As soon as it goes on sale i find myself flutterin those lil eyelashes again! Hehe

What brought you to PogoAddiction?
I was doin a Hearts badge and was really struggling with it. So i hopped onto good ole “google” to see if i could find some tips, And lo and behold here i am!! I think i lurked on this site for about a year before i eventually introduced myself lol cos im shy yanno! Lol
PA is the best site on the net (next to pogo of course) and i cudnt live without it.

What is your favorite feature on PogoAddiction?
Well there are so many i dunno where to start. If i need hints and tips its the only place to go! If i need a giggle, then the jokers ball. Free tokens galore! Pre –released info... this site has just got so many cool features, with more being added all the time! Its so hard to choose. But i have to say i love the shout box. Its nice to be able to just say “cooooooey” to all you luffly peoples each day. Makes me smile.

What is your most favorite siggy/graphic you've made for yourself or someone else?
I don’t think i have a favourite. I really don’t think my siggys are anything special, i just like to be able to share what i make. I love it wen i achieve something new with my siggys tho... like wen i learned how to use frames and animate things a little. I think ive had the most enjoyment out of making the Arcade winner siggys. They’ve been a joy to play with.

When you log on to PA, what is the first thing you do?
Check messages lol and ummm...find out what’s new in the land of the PAples!

If you could change one persons life, who, how would you and why?
Hmmm...now ive thought long and hard about this, and im really struggling with an answer. I think  you can change so many peoples lives in so many ways. Even just the smallest thing can mean so much to a person.  I pride myself on always being there for my friends, a shoulder to cry on if theyre ever down and just need to vent or talk, and if i can make at least one person smile a day, then that’ll ding dang do for me!!

How and where did you meet your husband?
LOL...ermmm.... i met my husband one very rainy night. My friend and i were out walking, and got caught in the rain. We used a carrier bag on our heads for a hat, to keep our perfectly backcombed and very well hairsprayed 80’s hair-do’s from getting wet! Lol  Paul and his friend pulled up in a car, and asked if we would like a ride home. We arranged to meet the following night, and have been inseperable since. That was 25 yrs ago. We Celebrate our 15 yr wedding anniversary next month.

What is your favorite Holiday and why?
Well its just GOT to be Christmas! I know theres a running joke on here about me being all “bah humbug”  lol  BUT secretly i DO love it. I find it a very stressful time of the year... but once im all sorted, and can relax its the bestest time! Snuggling up on the sofa when its cold & Snowing outside, with the Christmas tree lights all twinkling. And of course spending precious time with the family. Yep, definitely Christmas time!

We know you have 2 dogs. When did you get them and how did you come up with their names?
We had to have our previous boxer dog put to sleep. He had a stroke. We had him for 10 beautiful years. He was my shadow i missed him soooooooo much. We swore we would never get another dog, because the pain of losin Henry was almost too much to bear. I cried every day for a whole year....i just needed another boxer dog! Anyone who has ever owned a boxer dog will know exactly wot i mean! I didn’t want a brindle one like Henry...it had to be something totally different, so we opted for a red one. I wanted a red baby girl  and was gonna call her Holly. We got a red boxer boy instead .... his name was obvious  ..LOL  it HAD to be Ollie! He’s 16 months old now. And i wouldn’t be without him!
Charlie we found much more difficult to name. I thought it would be nice for Ollie to have a playpal. We’ve never owned 2 dogs before, so i was
a bit worried at the prospect. I NEEDED a white one this time, and he had to have either a patch on his eye or his ear (yes im very specific when i want something lol) The owners of the litter had called him Rocky. We wanted to call him Stan (as in stan & Ollie – Laurel and Hardy) so we asked them to start callin him Stan . Wen we got him home and saw his temprement and how mischeivious he was , we decided to call him cheeky Charlie. We also call him Charlie chalk, chalky, CharlieChops ad Lil Legs ....its no wonder he never answers wen we shout for him...poor lil mite is confused as to what his own name is ! LOL

What is your favorite pastime to do when not Pogo'ing or PA'ing?
Well its got to be playing with Photoshop! Being creative!  I also love walkin the dogs and taking photos of the flora and fauna.

Name 5 movies you could watch over and over again?
1.   Ghost – it makes me cry sooooooooooo much!
2.   What dreams may come – another weepy with Robin Williams in it... Fantastic Film!
3.   The Green mile – love it ! love it ! love it !
4.   Edward Scissorhands – love to curl up with a box of chocolates, bottle of wine and lose myself in this film .
5.   Rita Sue and Bob too! – LOL anyone from the uk will know why i love this film!
Ohhhh ohhhhhhhhhh Can i have 6?? Please? Please can i have  6?? *flutters eyelashes*
My 6th one would have to be the wizard of Oz!!!  Its a Classic!!! And im the biggest kid at heart!!

What is your favorite: Breafast Meal, Lunch Meal, Dinner Meal and Snack?
Favourite breakfast meal wud have to be crunchy nut cornflakes... or ummm Rice krispies! Theres the big kid in me again! Dontcha just love that “snap Crackle n Pop!”
I Dont usually eat lunch, but if i do , maybe ummm.... a chicken sarny!
Dinner Meal – usually roast dinners or casseroles. As long as ive got meat of some description on my plate im a happy bunny!
Snack... Um... definitely something savoury ...im not a “sweet” kinda girl.

What is the most exciting thing you have done?
The most exciting thing ive ever done i think only happened a few weeks ago . I Went and visited the place i was born. I live up north... and i was born down south. My family moved up north when i was only 1 year old, so i cant remember anything about it . It was lovely to see the actual row of houses where i lived ( yes! Its still standing 40 years later! A bit like myself hehe!  A bit rundown but still in pretty good shape all things considered LOL) the hospital i was born at ...The Cathedral, which was bombed by the Germans in the war .... Just all of the places my mother has always talked about. I now feel like i have a connection. Ive been back to my roots! And loved it !

Tell us something about yourself we may not know?
Okayyyyyyy....... ummm... my favourite smells in the world are :
Puppy Breath, Dogs Paws, Cinnamon, Patchouli oil, and the salty smell of the sea and seaweed.

I cant cook or iron without burning myself  at least once!

I’m always Right! Even when i’m wrong im right!

I love bein blonde...it gives me an excuse for wen i do stupid things!

Congratulations Poppet for being chosen for the Member Spotlight.  I really enjoyed reading your interview.  I have to say I love the smell of the sea too.  That is one of the things I missed most when I moved away from the coast.

Enjoy your time in the spotlight.   <3

Poppet, the Green Mile is one of my favourite ever films too - don't think I've ever found anyone who loves it as much as me before  :) Although, not a lot to smile about in it...

Coooey, lil miss poppadonna! Congratulations deary! I thoroughly enjoyed reading your interview almost as much as I do when i find we're both in the shoutbox at the same time. You never fail to offer at least a smile if not a bunch of tummy hurtin' giggles. And you sell your siggies short, they're always so great and you offer such a variety to us peons that it's never "a I only want one" thing. Congratulations on 25 yrs with your hubby but bigger congrats on being able to keep the eyelash fluttering still working (mine has a tendancy to roll his eyes when i flutter, i have to add a tear or two, lol)

Congrats hun, enjoy the time in the spotlight! It's fabulous to see someone dragged you out of hiding.  ;)

ah, mizz popp, such a delight to read about you.  i often wondered if you were from the northern areas--my granda was a geordie boy and there's just something about the canny way you speak.  and as always, your positive nature is a thing of beauty!

but i worry about that puppy breath thing.  please tell me it's different from adult dog breath...

Well if you aren't exactly like I pictured you, Poppet!  And I am a dog lover too, so I could feel both your joy and your pain over your dogs.  Your interview was a very good read.  What a cute story about how you met your hubby. Your photoshop practice certainly shows in your beautiful siggys.  Thanks for opening up and sharing with us.

No need to worry kiki..i can assure ya, puppy breath is most definately different to adult dog  breath !! lmao...trust me! i should know, i'm a  connoisseur  on it ...i been sniffin it since i was knee high to a grasshopper, actually im not much taller now  but hey....
it dissappears around 8 wks tho , so u gotta grab every opportunity to sniff... when theyre yawnin, or kissin ya, or if you need a fix, just basically prise the puppy's jaw open, keep it in a headlock, and inhale for England!  lol  ;D

And heyyy...wot do ya know!! Of all the places in all the land i come from your Grandads land!!! im a geordie girl!!! Small world eh? ;)

Anywayyyyyy....
I just wanted to thank each and everyone of you for leaving a message. I love this place and love you all!!!   <3
