It's been years since I played Risk. I really needed a refresher as to how it's played.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Risk_(game)

Looking at the game screen, that's freakin huge compared to their other games! Not sure if this is a one-off, but they really could make some bigger size games. Can't wait to see if pogo has anything special up their sleeves for Risk.

Knowing Pogo, they will have some helpers to make the game more playable for noobies. I don't think I have ever even heard of this one

As I remember it it is a fairly involved strategy game. I hope it IS quite complex as it is rewarding to learn something a bit harder. Just like the more complicated card games on pogo though I'm sure it will still be easier on the computer...as it doesn't let you make a 'wrong' move so it's faster to learn the rules.

RISK can be a real challenge where the best minds would win most of the time. I am sure that Pogo "dumbed it down," because at the  level I played it, I would win every time unless playing another very very experienced player.

Risk is one of my favorite games, I'm so excited!  If you want to learn some basics of how to play, go to Reflexive and download the 1 hour trial of either Risk or Risk 2 - they both stick to the rules, so you should be able to get a good feel for the game.  I'm glad they're getting a game that my husband will be willing to rank me up in while I'm at work.   <3

If I remember right...There was a lot of dice rolling, when you go against an opponent to "win" and get their territory...The hardest part was deciding where to put all your men and to protect your territory...This is probably a really "dumbed down" way to explain it <3

Played Risk many times in High School (more than 25 years ago) still am good at it, it's honestly rare when I lost a game to AI players.  So I LOVE this idea

Since we could be playing against four or more pogo computers, will the computers be dim-witted like thier HEARTS bots or will they be more clever like some if their other bots?

I recently downloaded a version of this game on iwin as i have an all inclusive membership and I am able to play for free.  It seemed to be really fun but also a little confusing.  Im going to read the instructions on Keiths link and see if that makes it any easier.  As others have mentioned Im sure Pogo will have power-ups hints etc...to make it a little easier for us.

I have both of Hasbro's versions (1&2) of this game for my hubby.  He really enjoys playing the first one, the second one has a very unfair and unrealistic playing strategy.  Regardless, I hope they 'smart it up' rather than 'dumb it down' so the Risk fans will have a challenge.

I never have been a huge fan but i'm excited to see what pogo's version will be like. Any word on if this is going to be a club game with ranks/badges? Hopefully they'll offer multiple layers of difficulty so more people can enjoy the game, a relatively easy level for those of us inexperienced players but a hard difficulty for those who've been playing forever and want to be challenged for maximum enjoyment for all.

When Pogo releases it, my best guess is probably the elusive 'soon'.

Noone knows when they will release a game, we just wait through Tuesday maintenance and hope they have blessed us with one of their new 'coming soon' games we've been waiting for  ;)

I think pogo is taking a risk putting this game out. In the past, complicated games have shown to be duds. Blooop comes to mind as a complicated Connect 4 with an insanely hard bot.

When I played RISK as a board game, I always had the option of "accidentally" tipping the board and messing up positions so badly that the game positions could not be reconscructed. I hope Pogo gives us that "tilt" option when they release the game SOON.

As a major long time fan of the game Risk, I think they have done a great job with this game. After playing in the beta for the last week, I have found that the AI is pretty comparable to what you would expect from an average human player. The AI seems to "understand" the basics for good placement and strategy, yet is not overwhelmingly strong to the point of being unbeatable. I have only lost once so far, but I am a very experienced player. I'd have to say that I am enjoying the game and can't wait for it's release.

My neighbor used to get in such fights with her hubby because of his "King of the world" attitude after winning at RISK that she individually painted all of the little markers with one color with her fingernail polish. Mine you - this means that each piece would need to be done twice to cover all of the sides. I suggested she just knock the game off the table but I am sure that the time consuming project made her feel good. Her hubby will be happy to learn that it is now a Pogo game.

One thing that doesn't seem quite fair is the ranking.  The way I understand it, it's just completing games (win or lose) ... so for badge hounds, you could simply play badly to end a game quickly and never really have to learn to play it well.

As far as I am concerned, a lot of Pogo's ranking systems are wonky. Red Threes anyone? How about MISSES in Battleship  :idiot:

Having never played Risk before, I read the rules then played a bit. Will have to go back and forth several times to get it and this is not a type game I like anyhow. Will play for badges of course  ;D
