PA Member Spotlight June 15, 2009 - sandstress
« on: June 15, 2009, 07:39:19 AM »

Me (red), my 3 daughters, 2 son-in-laws, and 2 grandsons
Son (inset) took picture

1. How long have you been a member of Pogo/Pogo Addiction?

POGO-August of 2008, so about 10 months. 311 badges earned so far. No games finished though!
PA-October of 2008, so about 8 months. 112 badges earned so far.

2. What is your favorite game?

It changes more often than my mini does!!! Right now it seems to be LOTTSO EXPRESS as it is the
one I am drawn to when I only have half hour to play or am really tired and just want to zone out.
I also really like MOST of the card games--canasta, pinochle, spades, aces up, 1000 Island, etc.

3. Has being a member of PogoAddiction changed your game play at pogo? How?

But of course!!! When I come online I read the forum and shoutbox, respond to posts if I have the
time and then if I HAVE to finish a badge, game or challenge because deadline is next day I go do
that, otherwise I check my friends list and see if I am working on something in one of those games,
and pop in and play and chat for awhile. There are quite a few PAers who are on in the wee hours
of the morning (Florida time).

4. Which are you more addicted to: Pogo Badges, Pogo Tokens, or Pogo Minis?

Just call me a BADGE-HO!! I rarely take time to change my mini,,,its kinda like my siggy,
It has been "raining in Florida" (my mini caption) for more than a month now!  :hahaha:
Actually, in real life it has been raining pretty much daily also!!  And the tokens,, well
I havent found anything to do with them except get stuff for my mini, which sits unused!!

5. When it comes to earning your Pogo Badges do you do them first thing as soon as you are able to,
Or do you procrastinate and wait till the last minute?

One thing I REALLY do well is... procrastinate!!
But actually, they usually get done pretty quickly, it just SEEMS to take me longer cause so
many people finish them before I even get online to start them! Sometimes its almost DAUNTING
on some of our contests when there are like a long list of challenges and when I get home from work
I read the post and then see people replying how fun it was and I have yet to start and see quite
a few days ahead of me! I always find plenty of PAples to work on them with though, so perhaps
procrastination should just be changed to "those of us with more limited online time than others"

6. Why did you join PogoAddiction?

A whim of the moment!!
I was yahooing some aspect of pogo and came across pogo fan sites. I went hog wild and joined
6 of them!   Talk about FRANTIC!! Needless to say, something had to give. PA is just
DEFINETLY the most excellent pogo fan site on the web and mostly just because of the quality of
people in PA. Not just the friendliness and sense of family, but the structure itself is so STABLE.
You know it will be here tomorrow and next year and 5 years from now, changing as all things do,
but the "family" will always be around, new faces coming, old faces going.

7. Do you participate in PogoAddiction Badges?

Yep, see #4. I LOVE the way we request our badges. I don't like how we display our badge albums
though. I wish it were more like POGO, in the way... mix and match are here, weeklies here, albums
here, social here, special here. That way you can tell at a glance what you might be missing. It
would be great if somebody talented in spreadsheets could make one that we could all download
with seperate pages for weeklies, mix and match, albums etc. Then it wouldnt really matter how they
were displayed cause we would each have our own sheet with what we have and what we need.
Any takers? I know I would kiss that persons feet!!

8. What PA contest has been your favorite?

I probably would have said the PA Birthday Extravaganza, except my internet was off for
non-payment during most of the week, so I missed it.  :-[
I loved the journeys (also missed a week due to Mardi Gras) and the 12 Days of Christmas,
but I would have to pick the Halloween one that Kiki hosted. It was my first time doing
something like that and I had such a blast!!

9. What is the most exciting thing you have done?

Being 52, Lots of exciting things have entered my life, mostly because I am so open to new
experiences. It's kind of like the PA poll of what we like best, how can you just chose one
when there are gazillions? Off the top of my head I would have to say the most exciting thing
was driving from Florida to Colorado solo to go skiing. My friend cancelled at the last minute
and wanted to postpone the trip, but I was SOOO wanting to go. I took my car (on its last legs-
broke down twice on journey) and stopped at online friends along the way. Had I been with my
friend we would have driven straight through. I had such a blast meeting so many friends.

Would drive 2 or 3 hours and share a meal with someone, then drive 5 or 6 hours and spend the
night at someone elses. Took me 5 days to get there and 4 days to get back, but the travelling
and visiting was just one of the best parts of the trip!!! My friend and I would have stayed at
a hotel, but since I was alone I opted to go to a hostel. I met new friends, had somebody to
ski with and got to play with some young men, too!!

10. What disease would you cure if given the chance?

POVERTY of the Working Class
There are just TOO many of us who are working 40 hours a week and still living in poverty.
This is one of the things I can rant and rave about, so I will quit now!

11. What is your favorite food?

Homemade Pork Roast, Dumplings and Sauerkraut ... YUMMY.. I drool!

12. Do you have any hobbies (other than Pogo)?

I am currently crocheting an afghan for my baby grandson, wanting to give for his 1st
birthday (Aug) , but (see #5 above) should realistically think about Christmas...2010!!
I prefer to crossstitch, but my daughter wants a dang afghan and so I am stuck!

13. Have you ever won a prize (other than screensavers or wallpaper) on Pogo?

Not a thing! Unlucky in prize winning. I don't play the lottery for the same reason.

14. Has your Pogo Mini ever been a Hot Shot?

Sometimes the mini is "hot", but never a hot shot!

15. Which Pogo character would you most think you are like?

I dont know the names of most of them, so would have to say SPIKE
Kinda ....fun-loving, bulgy in weird places, a bit prickly, but overall an optimist.

16. Do you have pets?

I co-own a mixed breed dog called Scully. When I moved back to Florida from
Missouri because my mom needed caring for, I stayed with her and left my pup
at my daughters cause mom was allergic. When my mom passed away, my daughter
wouldnt give her back, cause their whole family loved her so much and she had
been with them for 2 years. But I am at their place at least once a week and she
knows when I come visit she gets to sleep in bed with me, I feed her all kinds of stuff
she usually doesnt get, and give her lots of love and attention. She is so loved, they
had a family picture taken professionally and my baby grandson is actually sitting on her!

17. Did you grow up in the city or country?

Country girl. As I grew up the Chicago suburbs grew bigger but by the time I left it
was no longer country, but a part of the continous sprawl.

18. Who's your hero or heroine and why?

Dont really have one, so I am changing this question to read- who is my heroine/hero
in PA.  Definetly would be the PINKS!!! WOO HOO!! Lots of people might spend more
time with their talents here, but the pinkies have to do their thing at a SET time. I
have never  personally heard about anytime when a social was "unmanned". Thats
quite a feat. And in particular, Freddie is my heroine, cause she is the one I first
came in contact with, therefore the one that all my stupid questions and HELP ME's
went to.  Now that I know more people I try to find someone in a room that I can ask
(cause I still got plenty of stupid ?'s)  But if no one is around I know she is just
overjoyed to answer the latest one!!:2funny:

19. Tell us a little more about yourself

Hmmmm... hard one.  Prepare to be bored!
Basic facts- 52, divorced, 3 1/2 daughters (the half one's mom died at 17 and she
moved in with us, and has never left), 1 son (my youngest (25) whom I live with),
2 grandsons (15 years apart, same mother). Various assorted family pretty close.
Manage a Domino's Pizza. LOVE my job, love my boss, love my co-workers. Need more
money though!! Work the night shift, get home around 1 or 2 am, go on computer until
morning when I go to bed, get up in afternoon to go to work. Don't have too much of
a social life on a daily basis, but am one who tends to do 3 day things with various
people every so often.  I guess you could say I am a joyful, cynical optimist! I LOVE
life, even the down things are funny (usually afterwards). Cynical in that I have the
deep seated knowledge that (at least in MY life) that sweet rainbow of "easy-living"
just is NOT going to be, but optimistic in that... well, perhaps it just MIGHT be and
who really cares as long as I can enjoy what life sends my way.
<3
Oh, and I just LOVE Betty Boop!!! She is the epitomy of living life to the fullest in my
mind. A little naughty but not porny and just having a dang good time!  I try to always
have her somewhere on my profile. Feel free to send my way any cool images of her!!

Sandy, you are rich in family and friends, and quite the adventurer I might add.  That trip to Colorado was just the coolest thing to do, showing you make the most of what life hands you. You have a beautiful family, even that co-owned dog of yours is so typically Sandy! Thanks for the special shout out to the Pinks, we enjoy each other and the socials and hope that shows! Thanks for telling us all about yourself, and continue having fun.

Wow Sandy, thanks for sharing yourself with us. You're a brave, courageous wonderful woman and it's been a joy to get to know you. I have some very fond memories of you and I trying to figure out this daunting place we now reside since we both became active about the same time. Thanks for sharing so much of yourselves with us and reminding us that it's not the destination that counts but how much fun we have along the way.
