How to Play

Show content
The Basics

Boggle Bash is just like the original Boggle you know and love but redesigned with a fun Pogo twist. Instead of playing against each other like in traditional Boggle, Boggle Bash is a multiplayer cooperative word game. Everyone who is present in a particular game room are all playing and contributing to the shared room goal. To mix things up, players are separated randomly and as evenly as possible onto 1 of 4 game “tables” where a total of 5 players share and play the same Boggle cube. This works out to be a maximum of roughly 20 Players per game room.

Tips

Clicking the rotate buttons in the lower corners of the Boggle dice tray gives you a new perspective on the game board

You earn extra points and tokens for words only you find, these are referred to as unique words

When using the mouse, you can click OR click and hold while dragging across letters with your mouse to make words, right click submits the word

When using the keyboard, type the letters; <~ and ~> Arrow keys rotate the Boggle dice tray; the key submits words

The sort button shows you the words you entered either alphabetically or in the sequence you entered them

Gameplay

During the games 3 rounds of 3 minutes, the player make words by selecting the letters in the Boggle Bash dice tray. Players can click the letters, click and drag across letters to select words or type in the letters on the keyboard to create words. Clicking the right mouse button, the key or the “Submit” button on the game screen submits the word. The Boggle dice tray can be rotated to get a different perspective on the letters. Rotate the tray by clicking one of the rotate buttons in the lower corners of the dice tray with the mouse or type the < left or right > arrow keys.

Room Goal

The players will be presented with one of the following room goals.

Collect a total of x points - "Points" in this context means typical Boggle points based on word length (1 point for 3 and 4 letter words, 2 for 5, 3 for 6, etc.)
Find a total of x words
Find a total of x words of y-or-more letters!

Scoring

Per the original game, scoring for each word is based on the number of letters in the word.

3 and 4 letter words count for 1 point
5 letter words are worth 2 points
6 letter words are worth 3 points
7 letter words are worth 5 points
Words of 8 or more letters are worth 11 points

For the purposes of scoring "Qu" counts as two letters, even though the two letters are on the same cube. When using the keyboard, you can type “Q” then “U” as you normally would then continue typing letters in the word. You do not have to adjust the way you spell the word to account for the combined “Qu” letter die.

Unique words found by a player result in additional point bonuses. A point multiplier increases every round (up to 3X) through the third round. Points are converted to tokens at the end of the round so the more points you earn, the more tokens you get.

Panic Flip

To keep players on their toes, the Panic Flip scrambles the letters in the Boggle Bash dice tray for the last minute of the last round. This is not a full dice reshuffle but rather a randomized swapping of the letters on the board. This makes for interesting word combinations that might have been almost possible for the first 2 minutes of the game now possible in the last minute of the last round.

Ranks and Badges

The game supports 50 Ranks with 5 Rank badges and a few achievement badges; check out Badge Central to get the details.

Jackpot and Prizes

You must win 2 of the 3 rounds to earn a Jackpot Spin for a given game. The Jackpot Spinner spins like a slot machine. When it stops spinning, you'll win the prize indicated on the spinner -- perhaps the JACKPOT itself! If the Jackpot Spinner lands on the word "JACKPOT," you'll receive the current Jackpot amount. Jackpots range from $50 - $4,999. The current Jackpot amount, which gets higher every second, is shown on the right side of the game above the chat area. To claim your Jackpot, you must fill out the contact information and conform to the eligibility requirements listed in our Prize Rules.

Boggle Bash is a "no-risk" game because it is completely free, yet you can win great prizes just by playing the game. We are able to offer games like these because our games are supported by advertising. It works out to be a great deal for you!

Ooooo, I hope this is modeled after Boggle. It's a  'board' game I love.

For those who haven't played Boggle, it's similar in play to Word Whomp Whackdown. There's a set of letter die which are shaken to mix them up and settle in a segmented tray. You get a set time frame in which to go crazy writing down any words that you can from the adjoining letters. At the end of the time each person reads out their list. If 2 or more people write the same word, that word is eliminated from scoring. Your end score is calculated on the unique words left on your list.

Will be interesting to play against other Pogo'ers unlike WWW which is an individual game. I imagine if they do this then game rooms will be limited to small numbers ala Poppa Zoppa and Yahtzee Party.

it looks terrific!  as the others have said, it's been a family favorite for decades.  i don't know why i don't care for whackdown the same way, but i don't.

it does appear to be a room game as opposed to single player, and i'm relieved for the computerized right-side-up letters, lol.  trying to make these old eyes decipher sideways ones might trigger a seizure or something.   :hahaha:

It looks to me like it's going to be a group game, sorta like Word Riot, since it says Round 1: Group Goal: Collect 9 points. I think this will be a fun game. I used to love Boggle when I was a kid!

I can't wait for this game to come out... This will be one of my favorites when it's released. Will you post later on if this is a pogo, club pogo, or download game.

wicked, in the first post, little said that he thought it appeared to be for both free pogo and club.  nothing about it appears to be deluxe/download, so i wouldn't expect that to be the case.

as soon as we get more details, we'll post 'em.   :tu:

I love the look of the game and the group goal sounds fun. A great move on Pogo's part IMO. I am very excited about this game.
